Congratulations to Dawn Smart of Caring Hearts of Barrington, IL for winning the title of Caregiver of the 4th Quarter!
Dawn has been working in the healthcare field for seven years and has always felt that helping people is her calling in life. A mother of three sons, caregiving is something that comes quite naturally to her.
Helping a family in Barrington cope with loss
Recently, one of her long-time clients passed away. This was difficult for both the family and for Dawn, so they dealt with their grief together. Since she could no longer care for their mother, Dawn took on the role of caring for the grieving family members. She took the sons to get their funeral suits and they spent time together after the death, working through their feelings.
“My client was a wonderful person and I really enjoyed caring for her. I am grateful that I got the opportunity to be part of the wake and funeral arrangements. Staying involved in the process helped bring me and the family some closure,” said Dawn.
Compassionate care at work and at home
We are so lucky to have Dawn on our team.
—Christine Browning, owner of Caring Hearts of Barrington, IL
Working at Caring Hearts of Barrington for over a year now, she cares mostly for senior clients that need a little extra help to stay at home. An avid Chicago Bears fan, Dawn never misses a game. In her free time she enjoys fishing with her husband, visiting her cabin in Wisconsin and taking her puppy on long walks. At home, she cares for her three sons and spends a lot of time in her garden. She even brings her homegrown tomatoes to her clients!
“Dawn goes above and beyond by providing exceptional care and her clients have mentioned that she is an angel. She willingly accepts last-minute assignments, even if it is an inconvenience to her. We are so lucky to have her on our team,” stated Christine Browning, owner of Caring Hearts Barrington.
