Veterans May Qualify for Aid and Attendance Benefit to Help Pay for Home Care

This Sunday, we will honor veterans who have served in the U.S. Military to defend our nation’s freedom.

These men and women dedicated their lives to serving our country, but too often, they now go without the health care they need simply because of a lack of information or assistance.

What many veterans and their spouses don’t realize is that they may be eligible for up to $24,228 per year of tax-free money to pay for home care services.

The Aid and Attendance Benefit allows qualifying veterans and surviving spouses the ability to receive monetary benefits to help pay for home healthcare services, including assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, medication management and personal care.

The benefit also includes individuals who are blind or patients in nursing homes due to mental or physical incapacity. Assisted care in an assisted living facility may also qualify.

Caring Hearts recently partnered with Veterans Care Coordination to help qualifying veterans and surviving spouses to apply for and obtain the Aid and Attendance Benefit through the Department of Veterans Affairs. This benefit helps cover their medical expenses, including Caring Hearts home care services.
